(1) Boston (61-15) They solidified the best turn around in NBA history with a victory over the Bobcats Saturday. Give all the credit to Danny Ainge who built a powerhouse over summer
(2) New Orleans (54-22) Chris Paul got his first triple double of the season yesterday against the Golden State Warriors 5 game winning streak leading into the game against the Jazz on Tuesday
(3) Detroit (55-21) The Pistons have won five in a row and the good news is rookie Rodney Stuckey is averaging 20.0 a game in April.
(6) LA Lakers (53-24) How will the Lakers be able to work Bynum in time for the playoffs. The Lakers play New Orleans and San Antonio this week.
(4) Phoenix (51-26) Tough loss for Phoenix Sunday as they blow a huge lead and lose at home to the Dallas Mavericks. Doesn’t look like they will catch the Lakers for the lead in the Pacific.
(7) Houston (52-25) They lost a tough one to Sacramento last week but have won three in a row since, they play Seattle Wednesday before they meet Phoenix at home and then they go on the road for tough games against Houston and Utah.
(8) Utah (51-26) The Jazz are pretty much a lock to win the Northwest
(5) San Antonio (53-24) Just when you thought he Spurs were out of their slump they get blown out in Utah by 26 last Friday.
(16) Dallas (48-29) The Mavs make the biggest leap in the standings this week with a convincing win in Phoenix a legitimate title contender. Dirk looked great, with Avery Johson and Jason Kidd as fall guys Dirk is playing with absolutely no pressure.
(9) Orlando (48-29) The Magic lost in New York but the Magic have a secure lead on the three seed in the East. The Magic should win every game this week they play the Bulls twice and the Wolves in between.
(10) Golden State (46-31) The Warriors lost a tough one to the Hornets Sunday, but just as everyone is ready to write them off Denver losses two in a row. Every game is a must win for the Warriors. They play the Kings, have a very important game against the Nuggets Thursday and the Clippers Saturday.
(13) Washington (40-37) Gilbert Arenas is back and if these guys can somehow learn how to play together again they are very capable of upsetting the Cavs.
(11) Denver (46-31) The Nuggets had an opportunity to create some distance between themselves and the Warriors but lost two consecutive games against the Kings and the Sonics. The Kings were without Beno Udrih, Brad Miller and Ron Artest. On Sunday they allowed the Sonics to score 151 points.
(12) Cleveland (42-35) Lebron said the Eastern conference championship still goes thru the Cavs. Sorry Lebron we don’t believe you, you need more people.
(15) Philadelphia (39-38) The 76ers are going to have their hands full finishing the season .500 or better, with remaining games against the Pistons, Pacers, Wizards, Cavs and Bobcats.
(14) Toronto (38-39) Toronto has fallen below the .500 mark and in the process have bought the East back into a lowly status. Two teams under .500 making the playoffs is embarrassing one team is okay.
(18) Hawks (36-41) The Hawks five game winning came to an end Friday with a home loss to the 76ers Friday but Saturday the Hawks came right back and beat the Sixers. Saturday the Hawks play the Celtics in what should be a preview of their first round matchup.
(21) Indiana (33-44) Larry Bird is in complete control over the Pacers, hopefully Bird can get this franchise back in shape. The Pacers have won 7 out of 10 games.
(17) Portland (38-39) The Blazers good season will probably end with them not getting over .500 as they have dropped their last five games in a row.
(20) Sacramento (36-41) Their four game win streak ended with a loss to the Lakers at home but much props to Kings for playing spoiler getting a big win over Denver.
(19) New Jersey (32-45) The Nets playoff hopes are all but dead at this point, they should look to add a some sort of lost post presence to this squad.
(22) Chicago (30-46) The baby bulls have transformed before our eyes into the terri-bulls. I wonder where are all analysts that had these guys winning the East even after the Garnett trade. I honestly had them at fifth.
(23) Bobcats (29-48) The Bobcats should be better next year with a solid draft pick and the return of Adam Morrison and Sean May.
(24) Milwaukee (26-50) Yi goes down with a knee injury and this team is in a state of emergency, something needs to be done in the off-season.
(25) LA Clippers (23-54) Elton Brand came back last week and looked good in three contests averaging 17.7ppg and 7.3rpg
(26) New York (21-56) New York beat the Magic on Sunday which was good for Knicks fans all over.
(27) Minnesota (19-57) The Wolves have lost four games in a row, time to start thinking about the draft.
(29) Seattle (18-59) The Sonics got some revenge against the Nuggets by beating them 147 to 151. Jeff Green and Kevin Durant combined for 72 points.
(28) Memphis (21-56) Their season was somewhat a major disaster with the trade of Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown and Marc Iavaroni failing to get this team to win.
(30) Miami (13-64) Miami’s tanking is embarrassing, the league should really switch the draft rules giving all non playoff teams the same chance at getting number one pick.
