(Last week) Team Record
1(1) Boston (30-5)
The Celtics had their 9 game win streak snapped on Wednesday by the Bobcats and then had their 10 game road win streak snapped on Saturday by the Wizards. Against Charlotte the Celtics were without “Big Baby” Glen Davis and Ray Allen on Saturday they were without Rajon Rondo.

2(7) Dallas (26-11)
The Mavericks are back, they have won their last 7 games and there is more good news, Dirk has led them in scoring in every contest during this win streak averaging 25 points a game.

3(2) Detroit (28-10)
The Pistons, followed up their loss to Boston with a loss to the Mavericks, but the Pistons regained form against the defending champions Spurs handing the Spurs only their third home loss of the season. After all that the Knicks of all teams held the Pistons to 65 points.

4(3) San Antonio (24-11)
The Spurs have not played well in January losing to Nuggets, Warriors and Pistons. Their wins have come against Knicks, Clippers and Minnesota who have a combined record of 24-81.

5(5) LA Lakers (25-11)
The Lakers barely beat the Grizzlies on Sunday to get their sixth win in a row, Andrew Bynum suffered a sprained left knee in the contest. Lets hope it’s not too serious. Thursday the Lakers meet division rival Phoenix at home. The Lakers have an opportunity to be back on top the Pacific division.

6(6) Phoenix (26-11)
The Suns needed 26 second half points from Steve Nash to get past the Bucks Saturday night, which is not good, Golden State is the only team giving up more points per game than Phoenix.

7(4) New Orleans (25-12)
The Hornets are off to their best start in franchise history and they allow only 93.4 points per game, which is 5th best in the NBA. The Hornets are 17th in opponent field goal % at 45% as well.

8(8) Denver (22-13)
Denver only has a ½ game lead against Portland in the Northwest, good thing they have a favorable schedule coming up this week with games at Charlotte and Atlanta then they are home to face Utah and Minnesota.

9(9) Portland (22-14)
Their east coast trip did not get off to a good start as the Blazers lost to Toronto in double overtime. This red hot Blazer team is going to have a big challenge ahead of them as they play their next 6 away from the Rose Garden, this week they have the Nets, Celtics, Heat and Magic.

10(11) Golden State (22-16)
Baron Davis had 34 points and 14 assists as the Warriors defeated the Spurs 130-121 in over time victory but only had 4 points and 1 assist in a blowout loss to the Blazers.

11(10) Orlando (23-16)
I am officially pressing the panic button on the Magic season, they have lost 5 of their last 6, and are tied with Washington at 16 losses a piece.

12(14) Utah (21-17)
The New Year has started well for the Jazz as they have gone 4 and 1 in 2008, a big reason for this improvement is Mehmet Okur who has averaged 19.0 points per game and 8.2 rebounds in January. In December he only averaged a mere 11.1ppg and 4.8rpg.

13(17) Houston (20-18)
They have gone 7 and 3 without McGrady, who is expected to miss the next game against Philadelphia but return Saturday to face the Spurs, I will believe it when I see it.

14(15) Washington (19-16)
Are they better without Agent Zero, of course not, the Wizards have improved their team defense which was on display on Saturday as they beat the number one team in the NBA the Boston Celtics. They were able to hold the Celtics to 82 points. Last year the Wizards allowed opponents to score 104.9 while shooting 47.3% from the field. This season they have brought those numbers down to 96.9ppg and 44.4% from the field.
