TheHoopsForum Power Ranking
By Ron Campbell

Vince Carter stated earlier in the week that he is disappointed with his play as of late, don't worry Vince we fans have been disappointed for years. Shaquille O'Neal is getting my vote for player of the week with Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire out The Diesel posted 45 and 33 in wins over the Raptors and his former team the Lakers. It was great seeing Shaq play like its 2001 in a dominating performance over Phil and Kobe.

(2)1. Cleveland (46-12)
The Cavs barely got past the Hawks but with wins at Memphis and San Antonio they get the top spot.

(1)2. LA Lakers (48-12)
Back to back losses to the Nuggets and the Suns, I have no choice but to drop the Lakers a spot.

(3)3. Boston (47-14)
The Celtics added Mikki Moore and Stephon Marbury in hopes that they will be the key to another championship run, with that said Starbury was awful in sunday's loss to the Pistons.

(4)4. Orlando (43-16)
With the Magic having a terrific season and with the addition of Rafer Alston, the Magic are still unable to get past the Pistons. Magic lost at home to the Pistons Friday 93 to 85.

(5)5. San Antonio (39-19)
The Spurs had a pretty decent week going 2-2 when you factor in that Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili were out for three of those games.

(7)6. Houston (38-22)
With Trash McGrady out of the way the Rockets are on a roll winners of seven of their last eight games.

(6)7. Denver (39-21)
The Nuggets are going to sign Jason Hart because they need to give old timers Chauncey Billups and Anthony Carter some rest.

(10)8. Utah (37-23)
With the Jazz still mourning the loss of owner Larry Miller they have been able to pull off eight straight wins and are the NBA's hottest team. Deron Williams had 20 assists in a win over the Warriors Sunday.

(11)9. New Orleans (36-22)
Chris Paul only had nine points against the Bucks on Friday but had a season high 20 assists to make up for the lack of scoring.

(9)10. Dallas (36-23)
Kudos to Jason Kidd for getting his 10,000 career assist, if you think about it Kidd is responsible for anywhere between 20,000-30,000 points with his precision passing.

(8)11. Portland (37-22)
The Blazers suffered two huge losses to the Rockets and Spurs on the road but were able to get wins over Wolves and Spurs to end the week.

(13)12. Phoenix (34-25)
Shaq has been spectacular but lets see how the Shaq does on the Suns four game road trip this week when he will have to square off with Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan and Yao Ming.

(12)13. Atlanta (33-26)
I am still in shock that the Hawks found a way to loss to the Cavs on Sunday, the Hawks loss 88 to 87.

(14)14. Miami (31-27)
On Saturday the Knicks tried to push Dwayne Wade around and Wade pushed back scoring 24 of his 46 points in the fourth quarter.

(17)15. Detroit (29-29)
The Pistons are going back with Rip Hamilton as their starting two guard sending Allen Iverson to the bench. The Answer is currently out with a back injury.

(15)16. Philadelphia (29-29)
The Sixers are sliding a bit losers of six of their last ten games. The sixers have dropped to the seventh seed which really doesn't matter as they will have no chance against Boston or Orlando.

(16)17. Milwaukee (29-33)
The Bucks have a comfortable lead over the Bulls but should be a little worried.

(18)18. Chicago (27-33)
The Bulls won games last week against the Magic and the Rockets but lose to the Nets and Wizards go figure.

(19)19. New Jersey (26-33)
In the beginning of the season I thought these guys would make the playoffs but with Vince continuing to digress this team just doesn't have enough.

(21)20. Charlotte (25-35)
The Bobcats have won three games in a row and still have an outside chance to make the playoffs.

(20)21. Indiana (26-36)
Troy Murphy has been balling outta control averagin 20.2ppg and 15.6rpg in his last five games.

(22)22. New York (24-35)
Nate Robinson had the best month of his career in February where he averaged 23.0ppg 4.8rpg and 4.8apg and he jumped over Dwight Howard.

(23)23. Toronto (23-38)
Shaquille O'Neal has dubbed Chris Bosh the RuPaul of power forwards, Shaq's disses are equivalent to a Jay-Z diss.

(24)23. Golden State (20-39)
Last week the Golden State Warriors scored a lot of points but their opponents just simply scored more. Warriors lost all their games last week.

(25)25. Minnesota (18-41)
The Wolves are just not competitve without Al Jefferson the puppies have lost 11 of their last 12 games.

(26)26. Memphis (15-43)
The Grizzlies are currently on a seven game losing streak and are officially in the Blake Griffin sweepstakes.

(28)27. Washington (14-45)
Barack Obama showed up Friday at the Wizards game and his campaign promise of change is impacting the Wizards as they won the game over the Bulls.

(27)28. Oklahoma City (14-45)
The Thunder snapped their seven game losing streak Saturday with a win over the lowly Grizzlies, Jeff Green had 27 in the contest.

(29)29. LA Clippers (15-45)
Chris Kaman will return to the Clippers sometime this week, I guess that is good news.

(30)30. Sacramento (13-48)
With only seven games left against the east coast I really have to say I don't think the Kings will win a game against the East this season.

Stu Parkerwow. after reading this blog....You are spot on. I do not deny Kevin Garnett's ability as a player but HATE the BS stuff he does...All negative crap.
This is a very unfair article. Garnett is an Olympic Gold Medalist, an MVP, an ALL STAR MVP, an ALL NBA member and an NBA Champion... you know how many current players can say that? 2 others (Shaq & Kobe) and they are all considered among the best players at their respected positions in the HISTORY of basketball. The same should be said for K.G.

RaThis is blasphemy. I hope a Celtics fan did not write this article.
KWAPTHow old is that clip of KG? C'mon..of course that was a punk move, but what was that, 10 years ago? It's simple: KG is a fierce competitor who uses intimiadation and mental toughness to strike fear in the heart of his opponents. If he is on your team, you LOVE him. If he is not, you may loathe him. But either way, he is a great player. You cannot deny that.
AlexWow, now we are going to call an Olympic Gold Medalist, an MVP, an ALL STAR MVP, an ALL NBA member, an NBA Champion, a player that has more 20-10-5 seasons than Larry Bird, Defender of the Year (2008 and most likely, this year) overrated? Hmm, right now I'm kind of smelling a bit of jealousy mixed with stupidity in this article.
TweedsterThis blog is poorly written, scattered and incoherent. Thankfully, someone else already tackled the inconsistencies and leaps of logic. Check it out hear: http://celticshub.com/2009/10/22/did-you-hear-kg-is-overrated/
TweedsterSome actual statistics, and not just conjecture and strange conclusions based on the number of 'chips KG has. http://www.celticstown.com/is-kevin-garnett-clutch.html
SPron campbell must love the Lakers. Or the Cav's. Or the Magic. but he doesn't know @$@@ about basketball!
Ed The Sports FanI'm sorry, there's no way in life Allen Iverson isn't in the starting 5, especially ahead of Nash. Give a damn about MVP's, Iverson's done more with much much MUCH less and totally revolutionized the game. Other than that, I think your decade team is cool. -Ed.
Lebron is the KingThe way you analyzed your stats is flawed. If your saying Bird is better because he hits more 3 pointers, scores more, and passes more, your wrong. Bird had exceptional teammates which explains some assists. Now Bird was a great 3 point shooter and you said Duncan was a "center playing a power forward". Now if he does this, why would you bash it? All it shows is how versatile Duncan is in his position on the court. Duncan although not a flashy player, showed dominance under the goal. Duncan didnt need to pass because he could school anyone under the goal. Duncan is better because he has more rings. End of story. And to your comment on "We will never see another Larry Bird." Well we see a better one now, he goes by Ray Ray.
