Knicks Swat Hornets
By Ron Campbell
11/3/09

New York 117 New Orleans 111

Last week Chris Duhon had some harsh words for his teammates following a double over time loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. Last night, it appeared as though his teammates got the message. The Knicks played a great game last night. They moved the basketball well and only committed nine turnovers. The Knicks dominated the Hornets in the paint in large part due to the play of David Lee and Al Harrington who combined for 52 points. Larry Hughes didn't play in the first two Knick games and has been in Mike D'Antoni doghouse but got the start last night and scored 20 points.

Chris Paul's 32 points and 13 assists were not enough for the Hornets. The problem with the Hornets is that James Posey, Morris Peterson and Peja Stojakovic, all aged 32, are on the downside of their careers. Peja had a good game against the Celtics going for 26 but is no longer consistent and only had 11 points against the Knicks. The Hornets young guys Julian Wright, Hilton Armstrong, Bobby Brown and Darren Collison are not good enough to give the Hornets significant contributions. To be fair Darren Collison may some day be able to contribute but Armstrong, Wright and Brown are who they are at this point.

Sacramento 127 Memphis 116

Allen Iverson made his Grizzlies debut and he looked pretty good. He played 17 minutes and scored 11 points but Kevin Martin spoiled AI debut scoring 48 points and leading the young Kings past the Grizzlies in overtime. Martin was unstoppable scoring in every which way and he was lights out from behind the three point line hitting 7 of 10.

OTHER:

Good news, the Boston Celtics and Rajon Rondo agreed to an extension worth $55 million over the next five years. Bad news, the NBA is investigating the incident or incidents between Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul on Sunday. It is rumored that Chris Paul tried to follow Rondo into the Celtics locker room after the game and then got into a shouting match with Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau. Chris Paul tweeted this about the incident " Gettin ready for this big game in NY... n jus to clear this up I never came close to approaching the Celts locker room last nite not surewhere thats coming from...also me n coach Thibodeau never got in a shouting match, we talked...2 much respect for him, crazy how its twisted"

Orlando This was well put!! I think eveything you said is very true .. B Roy is a very good point guard but will definatly need I will say 3 other stars around him not 4 like you say. What is your take on Mr Oden ? What a bust so far !!
ScottHorrible story. First of all, how is it taking a step back for the Hornets from winning 56 games to 49? They still made the playoffs and lost to a much better Nuggets team. Your comparisons are weak at best.
The Dr.If you EXCEED your teams expectations, how is it taking a step backwards when your team meets its expectations??? I've never heard anyone mention Roy's name in the same sentence as Wade, Lebron or Kobe. This over-rated stuff is weak analysis at its best!
FLICKorIn Oregon Brandon Roy is more popular than Jesus and water. I do not believe the hype...Brandon Roy is not much better than Kevin Martin...if any (I love his defense) Rudy Fernandez will never get any good minutes with Roy in his way....I would love to see Durant traded for Roy
I'm not sure why I even read this considering the title just about made me throw up. Brandon roy is by far the most UNDERRATED player in the NBA. After reading this terrible article I instantly regretted it.
 What's next..Tim Duncan is over-rated...despite four rings, two mvps, 12 nba all-defensive teams, 10 all-nba team...he doesn't smile as much as he should...please stop.
Ron GBrandon Roy had two on Sunday
He took only 6 shots in a blowout win.
aholly216<<< twitterI understand your dismay of Roy,but I think because he's in the West expectations are high. He's still a young player and will continue to grow. Portland as a whole are young. Roy will give you buckets let's not dismiss that, but as far as winning a ship. That's not happening any time soon.
