My Rare View - NFL Season Week 2

1. When the Carolina Panthers game ended in a loss to the defending champion Green Bay Packers, Cam Newton became the first rookie in NFL history to pass for over 400 yards in his first two career starts and set an NFL record having passed for 854 yards combined in the first two games of the season.
2. Well Cam's record lasted for all of about 3 hours thanks to one Tom Brady. Brady continued his historic play by becoming the first player in NFL history to follow up a 500 yard passing game with a 400 yard game and shattered Cam Newton's record for combined passing yards in the first two games of the season with 940. Over his last 18 regular season games Brady has passed for 43 touchdowns and has been intercepted just 5 times.
3. The Kansas City Chiefs have lost their first two games by a combined score of 89-10. To add injury to insult, starting RB Jamaal Charles was placed on IR yesterday due to an ACL injury he suffered in the Lions game. This team is absolutely terrible.
4. Break up the Houston Texans. The Texans are 2-0 despite the inability for star RB Adrian Foster to stay healthy. The defense has given up a league best 10 points per game.
5. Prior to being concussed, Mike Vick was having a typical 'Vick" game. He threw for 2 touchdowns ran for 25 yards on 6 carries and had 3 turnovers. The Eagles were seemingly in control until Vick got injured which was not a matter of IF but WHEN.
6. The Baltimore Ravens, coming off of one the most important wins in the Joe Flacco era, were sliced and diced by of all people Matt Hasselbeck. No disrespect to Matt but if I told you a week ago he would pass for over 350 yards against the Ravens D you would have certainly had me carried away in a straight jacket.
7. Donovan McNabb passed for more than 39 yards this week but he is still not effective when his team needs him most. I do not think it is in the Vikings best interest to waste having the best RB in the league with inferior QB play.
PLAYER OF THE "WEAK": Luke McCown, Jacksonville - 6-19 59 yards 4 INT's QB rating: 1.8.
WEEK 2 HIGHLIGHTS:
BILLS VS. RAIDERS IN A SHOOTOUT
TONY ROMO RIDES OUT
BRADY ON ANOTHER LEVEL
POWER 5:
MILES AUSTIN, DALLAS - 9 Rec, 143 yds, 3 TDs
TOM BRADY, NEW ENGLAND - 31-40, 423 yds, 3 TDs
MATT SCHAUB, HOUSTON - 21-29, 230 yds, 2 TDs
KENNY BRITT, TENNESSEE - 9 Rec, 135 yds, 1 TD
DREW BREES, NEW ORLEANS - 26-37, 270 yds, 3 TDs
WEEK 3 PREDICTIONS:
Houston at New Orleans - The Texans take the top ranked defense on the road to bump heads with one of the top 3 offenses in football. They will find out this week that they are not the contenders many would like them to believe they are. New Orleans 38 Houston 24.
Detroit at Minnesota - The Lions take an undefeated record to Minny in a chance to prove they are for real. While I think they are for real, they will have to learn the hard way that if you do not bring it every week this league will humble you. Minnesota 24 Detroit 21.
New England vs. Buffalo - The Bills are first in points per game and the Pats are 3rd, if the over is anything less than 55 take it with Godspeed. The Bills get quite the rude awakening this Sunday courtesy of T. Brady. N.E. 48 Buffalo 27.
