Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are on a roll since Tracy McGrady announced he will be out sick for the rest of the season. I was reading on EPSN how McGrady’s injuries and poor shooting resulted in the Rockets not meeting pre-season expectations. I think it is a little more then that. For one, his poor shooting is result of not shooting enough in the summer. Repetition allows you do something over and over again the same exact way you did it before which is extremely important if you are an NBA shooting guard. There is a reason why they say you must take 500 or more shots a day to be an effective jump shooter. If your taking that many shots a day and sticking to your mechanics, and when I say mechanics I mean, spreading your feet wide enough so your body is squared to the basket, bending knees, getting both elbows up till they are horizontal to your eyes and then moving in one fluid motion to release the ball. Don’t forget to flick you wrist. If you do this everyday for several days, weeks and months eventually you will release the ball the same exact way and thus become a better shooter. For example look at Ray Allen; he shoots the ball the exact same way every single time he shoots, almost like he is a robot. As long as you can shoot, you will have a very long career, because you will always be effective. Ray at the tender age of 33 is an All-Star and very integral part of the defending champion Boston Celtics.
For the season McGrady is shooting .388 from the field and is averaging 15.7 ppg both career lows. Is this due to injuries or poor conditioning? I’m going to have to go with the latter. For one McGrady looked noticeable bigger at the start of the season. He obviously gained weight from taking to much time off and did not spend enough time in the gym by himself.
Like the video, the Houston Rockets are now playing Better Basketball and it is because McGrady is gone and his teammates are happy he is gone. Going from my own playing days, there is nothing worse then playing with a teammate that is just not giving it his all. What is even worse then that, Tracy was stalling the offense when he persistently attempted to take his defender one on one or shoot over. There were rumors Yao and Tracy had gotten into it and Ron Artest came out and said Tracy wasn’t doing his part. Expect to never see Tracy in a Houston Rockets uniform again.

| Stu Parker | wow. after reading this blog....You are spot on. I do not deny Kevin Garnett's ability as a player but HATE the BS stuff he does...All negative crap. |
| | This is a very unfair article. Garnett is an Olympic Gold Medalist, an MVP, an ALL STAR MVP, an ALL NBA member and an NBA Champion... you know how many current players can say that? 2 others (Shaq & Kobe) and they are all considered among the best players at their respected positions in the HISTORY of basketball. The same should be said for K.G. |

| Ra | This is blasphemy. I hope a Celtics fan did not write this article. |
| KWAPT | How old is that clip of KG? C'mon..of course that was a punk move, but what was that, 10 years ago? It's simple: KG is a fierce competitor who uses intimiadation and mental toughness to strike fear in the heart of his opponents. If he is on your team, you LOVE him. If he is not, you may loathe him. But either way, he is a great player. You cannot deny that. |
| Alex | Wow, now we are going to call an Olympic Gold Medalist, an MVP, an ALL STAR MVP, an ALL NBA member, an NBA Champion, a player that has more 20-10-5 seasons than Larry Bird, Defender of the Year (2008 and most likely, this year) overrated? Hmm, right now I'm kind of smelling a bit of jealousy mixed with stupidity in this article. |
| Tweedster | This blog is poorly written, scattered and incoherent. Thankfully, someone else already tackled the inconsistencies and leaps of logic. Check it out hear:

| Tweedster | Some actual statistics, and not just conjecture and strange conclusions based on the number of 'chips KG has.

| SP | ron campbell must love the Lakers. Or the Cav's. Or the Magic. but he doesn't know @$@@ about basketball! |
| Ed The Sports Fan | I'm sorry, there's no way in life Allen Iverson isn't in the starting 5, especially ahead of Nash. Give a damn about MVP's, Iverson's done more with much much MUCH less and totally revolutionized the game. Other than that, I think your decade team is cool.
